The Chronicles of a WannaBe Farmer but Never a Butcher!

Yes...I know...we’ve done it again! To our existing flock of five chickens, we took the plunge (diving-in feet first) and added four more pullets—two Golden Wyandottes and two (white) Delawares, just 1-day old, all hatched only yesterday—for a total of nine egg-laying hens!
Confession time: With our recent, out-of-character behavior, (like, who-cares if I get-in-the-way-of-the-bullet attitude), which began one day with merely talking, hubby and I expressing to one another our [someday] dreams and desires, when suddenly we found ourselves at Home Depot, on a shopping spree for chicken coop materials. No, (seriously!), we are not those kinds of people, the kind who do things with spontaneity, at least not with something this big (not usually, anyhow). But to look at us today, well, anyone would think that we have that “fear nothing” attitude.
In losing our sanity: The addiction to chickens is in full effect. We have bought into the whole caboodle of raising backyard chickens and gathering fresh eggs!
I said it before and I’ll say it again: “There is NO going back now!” Our chickens are here to stay.
