So spring break may not be the same after you're a kiddo, but somewhere between mardi gras and easter most of us find our selves schedualing a little R and R time.

This may consist of a staycay at a local spa with gal pals, or a full blown family trip to the beach. Whereever your spring plans take you, here are some fun throw back inspired ideas of what to bring along!

1. Temporary Tattoos

Temporary tattoos have been around since I was a little kid, but they have experience a serious refresh since then. They are a staple of festivals and beach parties today, but even louging in a hammock is slightly more fun with new "ink".

I used some for the Austin City Limits music festival, and they held up all weekend long. My friends and I had a blast applying them, and even got a little competitive with our design ideas. Flash Tats is a great brand for interesting designs, but you can find cheaper more basic versions on Amazon.

2. A Novelty Towel

If you still have that Space Jam or Little Mermaid towel in the back of the closet or garage, you are gonna wanna dig that thing out ASAP. If your parents pitched yours out when you left the nest, there are plenty of options for cool beach towels at Walmart and Target.

A beach towel is not only great for the beach, but for camping and visiting parks as well. They are great to sit on for long car trips, and double as a cozy blanket. They even have giant towels so that you can share with all your friends who will of course forget their own.

3. Instant Camera

If you are like me, you remember the mystic and fun of instant photography as a kid. My grandpa would rarely let me hold the camera, but I loved shaking the pictures! Though we now have smart phone and digital cameras that can show us way more that we ever wanted to see about our photos, there is something so wonderful about using an instant camera.

They are awesome to take on group trips, and make great keep sakes to give you friends or family you don't see very often. While the old polaroids can be found online, there have been a few modern instant cameras made that are easy to use and to find film for!

4. Color Change Lip Stick

No I am not suggesting that you go out and try to find that horrid blue/green color change lip stick from the 90's that tasted like an old skittle. Thank god, they have finally come up with a "grown up version". There are several options for these lipsticks that change color based on your tempurature (aka MOOD).

You can find cheap color change lipstick from Korean beauty retailers thathave pretty flowers inside, or if higher end makeup is your go to- Dior makes their own fantastic version of color change lipstick

5. Vintage Style Boom Box & Mic Set

One of my favorite things to do when bored as a kiddo was put on impromtu concerts with my little sister. We rocked out to Britney Spears and Back Street Boys like it was our job. These days, our basic stereo and mic sets have some major upgrades that are perfect to use on a getaway.

There are several versions which are shock proof, water proof, or have blue tooth capailties to keep you rocking with friends and family all night. They also have basic AUX cords so you can hook them up to a laptop, Ipad, or anything you want for an instant party!

And there you have it, 5 nostalgic items that will rock your spring break adventures. Don't forget the sunblock!
