Trimming the Tree: Small in Size but Grand in Style

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  Christmas is going to be here in 2 weeks, and I still have so much to do.  I know many of you have already trimmed your trees and decked your halls, so to bring in the Christmas spirit on DVB, I thought I'd share with you images of gorgeous small Christmas trees.

When building your home or moving into a new home, some often think ahead to Christmas: where am I going to place my Christmas tree?  (As a designer, I ask my client's this when building a new home or remodeling)  Many of you have room for your traditional large tree, but many only have space for a small tree.  And lately, I've noticed that many are opting to do a smaller tree and placing them on a table or chest instead of the traditional tall tree.

Placing your tree on a piece of furniture is the perfect solution for pets and small children who are drawn to the allure of ornaments on a tree.  It's also a great way to add that visual height that we are so accustomed to from the traditional sized tree.  And with a smaller tree, the look and style can vary, from Charlie Brown-esque to elegant and traditional to leafless branches.  Remember that when placing your tree on furniture, you tree base needs to be thought through; the base has to be as pretty as your tree because it will be in full eyesight of your guests and yourself.
