I grow plants for many reasons: to please my eye or to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience,

for novelty or for nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow.  David Hobson

The last two weeks I have pruned back 20 feet of sumac and buckthorn that had become invasive .  Since I have more time than money, I filled pails with soft white pine needles and spread them around as a free ground cover , then  built a stone wall from rocks around our property. After I  moved in some planters, I created.a garden delight. opposite the house, beside our long driveway.
