Purple Waves

purple quilt

I was inspired by Moda's wonderful bakeshop recipe of "Pure Baby Boy" quilt to adapt in into a different colorway for my beautiful little niece Olivia.  I used a jelly roll for the patchwork strip piecing and purple yardage.  The quilt is machine pieced and hand stitched in a baptist fan pattern.

Hand stitching was done in a hoop and I used a saucer as the template.  Since I was quilting on darker fabric I used an old timey way of quilt marking, a sliver of Ivory soap.  Hand quilting was around 30 hours.
