My choice for today's Photo Friday prompt - Solitude - is a picture I took last December from the ferry deck as Peter and I traveled back to Victoria, BC for a reunion with my family over the holidays.
The crossing between Tsawwassen (on the mainland) and Swartz Bay (on Vancouver Island) takes 1 hour and 35 minutes as the ferry meanders through a passage between several smaller islands (which is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful parts of the country). Though being obligated to ride the ferry when you're living on the Island (and want to take your car and leave) is an expensive and time-consuming pain in the neck, it's an absolute delight when you're on vacation!
I thought this particular photo showcased "solitude" rather nicely.
