I have really been enjoying your comments on the Pantone Spring 2013 Color Trends, and today I thought I would spotlight another one of those colors, Dusk Blue. It's not the green/blue color we've been seeing so much of in the interior design world, but more of a cornflower or sky blue. This color is such a nice, fresh break from the green/blue hues that have swept the interior design world by storm.
Leatrice Eisman, of Pantone, categorizes Dusk Blue as one of Pantone's Novel Neutrals because blue is the background to everything in nature. Stating it is a perfect background color. I have to agree with her. This shade of blue reads well as a neutral, becoming the backdrop for stronger contrasting colors.
Dusk Blue also is a great focal color as well, putting this against creams and tans Dusk Blue will soar. It's definitely not your normal neutral go to color, but would be lovely on the walls of a bedroom or living room.
While at High Point, I saw several pieces in the Dusky Blue hues. Some were solely blue or a combination of the color with varying intensities of the same color, or a combination of blues and an accent color.
Enjoy beautiful rooms and pieces in shades of Dusk Blue!
