For my first blog post, I would like to share about my kitchen. We bought our first house last march, I am just now really getting deep into changing it up. When we moved in the kitchen had oak cabinets, with kinda non descript brownish walls with grey trim. The linoleum was cream colored with green diamonds and was all scratched up and stained. The countertops were emerald green.
In the spring, I painted it pale yellow just to brighten it up (because I had yellow paint that I never used for a different project). Then I painted the countertop, which is not a project I would recommend, but I will elaborate in a later post. The kitchen was like that until the beginnning of december when I finally decided to tackle it. The first step was painting the kitchen blue, after much back and forth I picked a shade called "nautical" (very similar to the blue wall in my mood board below) Next I took off all the upper cabinet door and throughly cleaned, primed, and painted them white. I left the bottom cabinets alone so I could brainstorm about them, while everything was on hold for a bit for the holiday. After christmas i built some shelves for the weird empty space above the sink. Then earlier this week, we got grey faux marble (vinyl) tiles and new cabinet hardware that I am in love with. I just have to tile the pantry closet then I will post pictures. So, after getting the majority of the floor laid, I sat for a creepily long amount of time staring at the kitchen and decided to paint the lower cabinets grey. I don't know why it took so long to think of it. I had been going between red, blue, or darker wood stain.
I can't wait to share my before and after, I just have to paint the lower cabinets ,do my white subway tile backsplash, and paint my table and chair set.
Here's the kitchen the first day we moved in.
