You know all those pins everyone makes on Pinterest? Does anyone actually really do any of it? I have to admit I love Pinterest, and I often get lost for hours pinning my heart out swearing I am going to make that yummy looking Jack Daniels bacon cupcake, or refurbish some great find from the thrift store…but in reality, that will never happen. Because A.I hate being in the kitchen, and B. I never go to the thrift store.
I will never do any of the things I pin because it is hard enough to find time in the day to even shower before midnight let alone make fairy lights out of mason jars. At least that is what I tell myself.
However, my husband… the husband who works a bazillion hours a week then spends the rest of his time watching car shows, drinking beer and driving me crazy with the How it’s Made marathon; made me a table from old pallets!
Seriously, this guy is the best! I had been bragging to him and his best friend for months, saying things like, “When I make this cool table from pallets I found on Pinterest, you’ll see!”
“When I make my table from pallets for FREE I will have somewhere to put my laptop when I am in the garage hiding from the Locus”
“I can’t wait until I make my pallet table so I have a nice quiet area to write in the garage!”
“Did I show you this cool table I found on Pinterest made of pallets?”
Apparently, he took the hint and decided he would have a go at it. At first, I was a little irritated he was taking over the project, (although I was never going to get too it myself). I really had every intention to do it (even though I still have that huge box of tile from 10 years ago, when I swore I was going to make a mosaic mirror frame I saw on the DIY network.) It was my idea! I was even going to turn it into a blog post, because EVERYONE should own a pallet table, right?
The husband, after arguing with me for a while, reminded me how uncoordinated and clumsy I was. Of course, I disputed in my defense as I followed him out to the garage, followed by me stubbing my toe on a skateboard, then hitting my shoulder on the doorjamb… He “claims” I would probably cut half or all of my fingers off, or maybe shoot a nail in my eye, so after a quick two second ponder I let him have at it.
I guess I will once again let him win this round, but only because I do like having my fingers. (How would I open my beer can, or write with no fingers?)
So here you have it; the pallet table in my oasis.
It was a great project for dad, and a few of the boys even got in the action. So now I can say, someone in this house will at least take some of the ideas from pinterest...However, I will just sit back and enjoy them when they are done!
