How to Have Yourself a Retro Little Christmas

I love me some retro Christmas decorations. Seasonal decor is my favorite of all my many collections. It's easy to run to the local big box retailer and decorate a mantel that looks just like your neighbors or wrap a gift in the same paper seven of your cousins will use. A quick way to set yourself apart is to throw a bit of vintage Christmas kitsch into the mix. Let me show you what I mean.

The Graphics Fairy really earns her wings this holiday season with all of the free vintage Christmas graphics on her website. The possibilities with these images are endless. Karen just so happens to have a handy-dandy video about making custom gift tags on her blog -- and not just any gift tag; these have a cherubic '50s Santa.

Pop over to Kara's Party Ideas for inspiration on throwing a vintage Santa Christmas party. There are so many clever projects in this post submitted by Brenda Byers of Great Stitch. No need to throw a party just to bake these cookies and hang these decorations; they would look and taste great all season long.

I was looking for a way to display my collection of vintage Christmas wrapping paper when I came up with the idea of using a vintage Coca-Cola crate (24 holes) for a post on my blog Naughty Secretary Club. I was inspired by a BlogHer by Life As a Thrifter. I have my kitschy crate hung and ready to go for Christmas this year; all I need to do is fill the slots.

Last Christmas, I took a class about making beaded ornaments, so I kinda have a soft spot for them. When I saw the amazing collection Michael from Inspired by Charm had amassed, my heart went pitter-patter. I always think of these ornaments as tack-a-licious, but somehow on Michael's gorgeous tree, they look elegant.   EBay, here I come!

How do you incorporate a touch of nostalgia into your holiday season?
