Geraniums in My Pot

Won’t you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you. (Richard Brinsley Sheridan)

I love that quote. One reason is because since my return from Italy, there is definitely a rose bush somewhere that would like to grow in my garden. They are calling my name. However, the heat and humidity have been talking a little louder than the roses, so instead, I've planted geraniums in my pot. Sort of.

Mine will live on my porch, won't need fertilization and I will never water nor prune the dead stems; because I purchased them in the floral department of Hobby Lobby.

This is the almost-after photo, so let's begin with instructions for putting a floral arrangement together.

Floral Arranging Supplies

Supplies Needed:

2 Floral Geranium bushes

1 large Ivy bush

1 Roll Burlap wired ribbon

6 Styrofoam Blocks

Wire cutters

Green floral wire

Moving tape

Scissors

One glass of sweet tea

Summer Geranium Arrangement

  • Cut stems from the bushes and separate according to the length of the stems.
  • Place blooms in the styrofoam blocks at different heights.
  • Begin filling around the blooms with the ivy, shaping some pieces to drape over the sides of planter.
  • Using the EZ Bow Maker demonstrated in the video below, make two bows for the planters.

Summer Geraniums

Floral arranging is much easier than most people think.  You can do it!

Now, hang the planters and have a seat. Enjoy that glass of iced tea. Oh, and to the roses calling my name, "For now, while it may not smell as sweet, a rose called by any other name is a geranium."
