An Aviary for Our Chickens

The Chronicles of a WannaBe Farmer but Never a Butcher!

Due to our eagerness to have chickens, [now!], we brought them home before having even begun building their coop. Consequently we fell behind schedule, and the hen house was completed almost two weeks later from our set timeline. (Realistically, since we live in the warmth of California, they could have gone out into the safety and warmth of the coop at about 4 weeks old).

In our defense, we’ve had a lot of unexpected setbacks: Nature—days of extreme heat made it miserable and near impossible to work outside—and family obligations. Family, after all, does come first.

Good news today, however:  The aviary is done!

Aviary dimensions:  the aviary measures 8-feet by 8-feet with a height of 6 feet, with definite plans to expand later (though much sooner than later).

We dream a life to be; we live to dream that life! (vka)
