That's my "foyer" (the first image below & there is usually a runner but it's being cleaned right now). I honestly don't know what the builder was thinking when they designed it. The door almost hits the stairs when open. When guests come in, they have to walk through the dining room, even though logically they should go to the left, to the foot of the stairs and entry to the kitchen. But the door is hung backwards, and when open, you can't get by it to the left! There is a front porch, so maybe the builder had to sacrifice the foyer because of the street frontage rules?

Needless to say, I don't love it.

Someday we'll take the porch out and add a real entryway, but in the meantime, I'll live vicariously through these gorgeous foyers.

Remember this one by Kelly Wearstler? How could you not! It's not for me, but it sure got the blog world talking!

This one is so funny I almost fell out of my chair because the image shocked me so much. Imagine if this happened in real life?
