From a Whisper to a Scream

Sticks and stones break my bones and words hurt me.

Most of us receive irregular negative communication born in pain or fear and intended/unintended to wound us.

Projectile insults, sarcastic ridicule, rage or physical force might be aimed in anger to land in between our shoulder blades, above the right eye, at our face or deep in the center of our body.

We may seek space or solitude to deal with our hurt at a later time so we stuff our feelings quietly into a velvet lined pocket until that time arrives. Safety and distance allow our feelings to gradually drift into less urgency and then slip from consciousness.

What becomes of the pain we don't release?
