I have decided to participate in the National Blog Post Month.  This means that I will be writing each day of November.

A Cold Blustery Day

My daughter-in-law, Anne ran the New York City Marathon today.  It was her first full marathon.  She has been diligently training for this special run.  She finished the race in four hours and 7 minutes.  That is impressive.  She is awesome and I am in awe of her.

Ross and I are contemplating a personal trainer.  A woman who lives in our “Active” Adult Community will put together an exercise program for us which would be geared to our individual levels of fitness.  We can hire her by the hour, a couple of times a week, to get us started and motivated.
I’m not sure if I want to have my own sessions or share the hour with Ross.  Maybe we’ll try it together for the first time and see how it goes.
Last week I talked Ross into walking down to the club house.  In the past, whenever I would suggest that particular route, he would balk.  I think it’s because he knows it’s a mile down and a mile back and two miles is a long walk.
So, when I asked him to come for walk with me this time,  I assured him that we would take our time, that there would be no rush and that it would be at a nice leisurely pace.
I also promised him a rest on the benches by the lake before we headed back.
We made the round trip without even a huff or puff.
No, I don’t have delusions of either one of us ever running a marathon, but I think we have a few more walks, even if they are leisurely ones, left in us.

Today is the day that we gain an extra hour.
We caught the final lightness of the day, by the bay at the municipal dock.
