Now desperately trying to pull it out with my fingers before I get to ball. I realize I am just making this chin hair longer and ... CURLY!
This is just one of those I am 40ish moments I have everyday. Don't get me wrong, I do love 40, but and it's a big butt (no that's not a spelling error) my whole body is changing, even my butt. The aches, pains, chin hair, wrinkles etc... seemed to have crept up on me. It feels almost as if it happened overnight. Wasn't I just 30?
When did I turn into an emotional freak, some close friends might argue, when I was born. Seriously, I can't control my tears these days. I cry because I am happy, sad, angry, hungry ... or just because my 40 year old mind feels like it. Recently I was at a friends wedding. The day after the wedding we stayed for a pool party. As I was sitting in my pool lounger, watching everyone have fun, a wonderful feeling came over me, I was so content. Feeling very happy. So, 40 decided to kick in and I started sobbing uncontrollably. Thank goodness my sunglasses and the chlorinated water masked these crazy emotions. I quickly stood up and dove in the pool to wash away my tears. Phew! Disaster averted.
As if that's not enough, let's talk about sleeping. When did I turn into a sweat box? Why is it that I can't go to sleep and wake up like my old 30 year old self, dry. I literally sweat to the point of soaking my bed sheets almost every night. Sounds fun right? Clearly, that is sarcasm. You know who loves it less than me? My partner. I am getting a little tired of the "Woah! Babe! You are soaked" comments as he rolls over to greet me in the morning. Not to mention the habitual washing of the sheets!
I get all the positive things about 40, I really do. I am embracing them and enjoying every minute that I pee a little when I jump on the trampoline with my kids. It's just a strange new place some days.

Until then I will be sweating in my bed, crying over spilled milk, peeing a little when I jump or run, pulling rogue hairs from my chin and doing extra squats for my ever changing butt.
