The pursuit of happiness is a concept known by everybody. People make it their ultimate goal in life, but we have different visions of what happiness represents. For some, happiness is finding that special someone, for others it is having a successful career and so on. But do we really know the chemistry behind happiness? Most of us don't!

Nowadays, researchers explore human behaviors in new ways that weren't thought possible before. With their knowledge and advanced technology at their disposition, scientists are able to discover what going on into our body when we experience happiness.

When I came across this very interesting infographic, created by WebpageFX, I decided to share it with you so you can learn too the science of happiness.

Scientists also studied the area of the human brain that is responsible for happiness and positive memories as well as the neurotransmitters involved like serotonin. This neurotransmitter helps regulate:

  • Learning
  • Mood
  • Sleep
  • Sexuality
  • and appetite

Another neurotransmitter, Dopamine, is also implicated in the conception of happiness. Dopamine helps regulate:

  • The brain's reward and pleasure center
  • Movement
  • Emotional responses

This information above is only some of the numerous elements contained in the infographic below. It is filled with a lot of factors about happiness that psychologists researched thoroughly and you can also learn under which circumstances we are more likely to experience happiness.
