One thing that sticks with you as tight as a college girlfriend would be >> blemishes. They will stick with you through thick and thin and never leave you. With age you may grow apart, but will always have history together, memories shared...embarrassing moments to relive.
In order to combat blemishes, I find that I must address them in 3 stages:
Stage 1. Prevention: Washing (cleansing + toning + moisturizing) my face 2 times a day (morning and night) prevents the flare up of pimples and breakouts. This is the most crucial stage for me because it eliminates all those yucky bacterial elements that form above and below the skin's surface. The enemy that causes pimples.
Stage 2. Attention: Sometimes prevention just isn't enough, but, it will help control the severity of your breakout. When those breakouts become uncontrollable and our fingers go to "bump busting" the skin gets irritated and the acne spot doesn't heal correctly- causing a facial scar (blemish). Before taking action with your fingers, try a few remedies to help properly heal those pimples. Make sure to pay close attention to the problem areas when washing your face. Consider using a facial mask to help remove any impurities not removed through cleansing and toning. Also, if you touch your face constantly throughout the day, keep some hand sanitizer handy to cut back on the germs you add to your face each time you *rest your head on your hand, scratch your face, or re-apply makeup*.
Stage 3. Rejuvenation: When prevention and attention fails you, now you're faced with a pimple that has morphed into an eye catching blemish. What to do now? Treat it immediately. I find that products with salicylic acid fight blemishes in record time. You may have to alter your facial routine in order to implement such products, but, your skin with love you for it. So will your confidence.
