My poor Sweet Babou pinched a nerve in his neck. He has been in pain for a week and even the prescription-only pain meds and muscle relaxers weren’t helping. I finally talked him into getting some help.
Step one: Acupuncture. Acupuncture is (for those not in the know) “a component of the health care system of China that can be traced back at least 2,500 years. The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body that are essential for health. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Acupuncture may, it has been theorized, correct imbalances of flow at identifiable points close to the skin.”
Friday I took him to the friendly neighborhood acupuncturist and asked her to drive needles into my husband’s body, as you do. He looked like a very sad porcupine.
Sorry the pictures are a bit crap. I was using a camera phone and the room was dim.
The good news is that it helped! The Acupuncturist told us to come back on Monday for a follow up, which is good because Saturday night he slept “wrong” and aggravated that nerve again. Today we are going to a chiropractor as well. By gum that never will be FORCED to abandon it’s cozy position squashed between his vertebra. Once he can move freely, I am forcing him to yoga every night.
Meanwhile, I bring him coffee as he reclines and tries to type through the pain in order to get some work done.
I’ll let y’all know how it goes!
