Rice...... and ARSENIC!!! ~ Listeria in Spinach!
I love rice! Especially since I have been watching what I eat and trying to live a healthier lifestyle. I have even finally learned to "like" brown rice. Now....,in the reports they suggested that you eat "white" vs. "brown" because the white rice is prewashed and bleached, thus reducing the levels of arsenic we would take into our bodies. They also suggest that you double the quantity of water to each cup of rice; won't that make your rice Gummy? Hate that!
Reason for caution: What they say ~ level of Arsenic ....it's dangerous, can cause cancer.... I already have enough scares in my life for cancer, I don't need another one.
No wonder people are drinking shakes and packaged foods, they're losing weight and are protected from all of the FDA's, News media or Consumer awareness groups food scares, at least I think so. If it wasn't so expensive I'd do it too. :-)
Here's another one:
Kroger recalls spinach over listeria risk .... It's the only vegtable my daughter will eat without a discussion of "I hate this.... Yuck.... or Do I have to eat all of these". Now what color green will I give her?
Listeria can lead to severe illness for women who are pregnant or people who have a weakened immune system.
So back to my original question... What is one to eat?
