I am really big on using foods for healing.
I don't mean healing by eating brownies because your sad, but finding foods that actually help you feel better. An example of this could be eating an apple (skin included) so the fiber helps you go to the bathroom or drinking a caffeinated beverage to soothe a headache.
It is tradition of Puerto Ricans (and Hispanics) to use herbal medicines and the use of ginger is just one of the roots I've always known to be of good use. There is even research supporting this now and ginger is associated with anti-inflammatory effects.
