One of the highlights of Queen Latifah's talk show: Delicious diet-friendly recipes. The tasty segments feature healthy living experts who serve up their concoctions, all of which are cheerfully sampled by the vivacious Queen Latifah.

The following recipes are among the best. Known as the "Personal Trainer to the Stars," Jeanette Jenkins has done double-duty as Queen Latifah's healthy living expert. Her popular fitness DVDs include "Jeanette Jenkins/ The Hollywood Trainer: Cardio Kickboxing" and "Jeanette Jenkins/ The Hollywood Trainer: Sexy Abs Cardio Sculpt."

5 Minute Beet, Apple, Carrot, Lemon Ginger Liver Cleanse Smoothie

  • 1 beetroot
  • 1 apple
  • 2 whole carrots
  • 1 lemon with the peel of ¼ of a lemon
  • 1 inch piece of ginger root
  • 1 water
  • 5 ice cubes

Entire Batch makes 2-3 large glasses
197 calories, 49.5 grams of carbohydrates, 11.7 grams of fiber, 28.2 g

In addition, celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder, author of the "The Beauty Detox Foods: Discover the Top 50 Beauty Foods That Will Transform Your Body and Reveal a More Beautiful You" and "The Beauty Detox Solution: Eat Your Way to Radiant Skin, Renewed Energy and the Body You've Always Wanted," believes that you should “eat your beauty.” She recently just got back from her honeymoon where she learned some new recipes and nutrition secrets from the jungle that she shared with Queen Latifah.

“These all were inspired by our trip to Africa,” says Kim. “This first one was inspired by our gorilla trek in the volcanic mountains of Rwanda, where we were up close with the gorillas. After learning about what they ate I realized there were so many ingredients we could benefit from and now you don’t have to go to Africa to make these!”

Serengeti Smoothie


Instructions: Blend all until smooth.

Zanzibar Shake


1 cup pineapple (ripe)
1 cup banana, chopped
¾ cup cold coconut water
1 tsp. ginger, peeled and chopped
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbs. raw coconut nectar
1/8 tsp turmeric (powdered or just a tiny nib of fresh)
Instructions: Blend all until smooth

Gorilla Shake


¼ cup sunflower sprouts
1 cup baby bok choy (use green leaf part)
1 ½ cup papaya, chopped (ripe)
½ cup coconut water
1 cup banana, chopped
Instructions: Blend all until smooth.
