Today marks our 10k Training Week 2: Day 1. What an accomplishment.
On Sundays, we do our “long run.” For me, a long run starting at 4 miles is perfect. I have only done it once before and happy to do it again.
Yes, I walked. Yes, I ran. Yes, I even smiled while doing so.
Running is amazing. It just is. Not only is it physically demanding but it is also mentally challenging as well.
To help motivate me and to keep me on track, I make mini-goals along the way. If I can make it to that stop sign, then I can walk for 20 seconds…if I can make it to the tree…
Sometimes I’m even able to take in the beauty around me that I normally wouldn’t notice when I drive by.
It becomes a game and gets me to focus. I’m not really concentrating on anything else, well, maybe dogs, cars and deer but you get the point. I make it to the final finish and that’s really important.
Because if I didn’t make it back to the finish, I would have never got to my car.
After my run, I grabbed some homemade chips out of my purse.
It was time to stop monkeying around and eat!
I made these for the kids yesterday and they were a cute hit!
