You don’t need braces to get a better smile. Braces are expensive and sometimes teeth shift back to their original positions, even with a retainer. Good thing braces aren’t your only option when it comes to getting a perfect smile.

Here are some ways that you can get a better smile without metal wires and brackets!

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells that cover your teeth. They are made from enamel-colored materials and adhered to the front of your teeth. They can help cover stains, chips, gaps, or misshapen teeth. Veneers were invented as a quick fix for Hollywood stars to get a pearly white smile.

To get veneers yourself, your dentist may need to shape your teeth to get the best fit and appearance. Veneers look like your normal teeth and can be another option to get the smile you’ve always wanted.

Lumineers

Lumineers are similar to veneers, but they are much thinner. Because they are so thin, your teeth don’t have to be reshaped before application. Patients can walk into their dentist’s office and walk out with a perfect smile. Lumineers can also be removed if you ever decide that you don’t like them. And they last up to 20 years! So forget braces, and see if these are right for you.

Invisalign

If your teeth are too crooked to hide with veneers or Lumineers, try Invisalign. Invisalign uses a set of clear aligners to move your teeth. They are removable so that you can eat and drink like normal and brush and floss your teeth without any difficulty. No one will even know that you have Invisalign! Unlike braces, Invisalign is a clear and discreet option to straighten your teeth.

Gum Contouring

When your gums cover more of your teeth than you would like, try gum contouring. Gum contouring is a process that can shape your gums without changing the position of your teeth. This procedure can dramatically change the look of your smile in one day.

Even with these procedures, you might still need traditional braces. Talk with your dentist to discuss what options are best for you!
