Today I have a pretty exciting review for you! I have tried the brand new Tria Age-Defying Laser for 8 weeks and I am sharing my experience with you! (BTW it is pronounced: TREE-A!)
Let´s start with the claims of the product:
"Until now, the benefits of the Age-Defying Laser could only be achieved with a series of dermatologist treatments. Now you can visibly restore the natural luminosity of your entire face and smooth hard-to-treat wrinkles in the comfort of home. Penetrating beams of light continuously rebuild collagen beneath the skin’s surface for a more youthful, radiant and refreshed look in as little as 2 weeks."
Pretty exciting news- don´t you think?
Let´s get a little bit in detail about this (FDA cleared) device.
The Tria Age-Defying Laser looks sleek and elegant and comes in a pretty purple stand. It comes also with a fancy USB stick charger. Once charged the device will work for 3-4 weeks without charging, so feel free to put all the cables away to have a clean counter top (well: I am a neat freak).
The device has 3 levels and you slowly will increase these- meaning: starting in week 1 you stay on level 1. In week 2-4 you use level 2 and then in week 4-8 you should use level 3.
What happens in those different levels? Well the laser will become stronger and hotter and the treatment time frame becomes longer.
What you do is this: first divide your face into 4 zones, press the device flat on the skin and start with one zone. You will see the purple light of the laser if you are doing it right. It will make a "beep" once the first zone is done and then you go ahead and treat the next zone. After treating all 4 zones the device will make a different longer beeping sound (almost a song) and you know that you are done. It will then turn off from alone.
On Level 1 the time frame you treat every zone will be 30 seconds. On Level 2 the time frame will be 1 minute. On Level 3 the time frame will be 2 1/2 minutes per zone. On Level 3 the treatment of your whole face will take you a total of 10 minutes.
The laser "feels" if you are doing it right and will only turn on if you are holding the device flat onto your skin. Once you are too far away from your face it will automatically shut off. You just glide with the laser on the area you want to treat.
Keep in mind to always wear a good sunscreen (SPF 50) when you use the Tria Age-Defying Laser as your skin will get very photosensitive and to stay out of the sun as much as possible to avoid hyper pigmentation!
Now to my experience:
The very first day I used this device I was very excited as I did not want to do anything wrong. I was also a little bit scared if it might hurt or something. I washed my face with the Tria Age Defying Skincare Priming Cleanser which has a nice cooling effect. It is not good for taking eye make up off though because it can sting in the eyes- so you should first get rid of your eye make up before using this cleanser.
Well- Level 1 did not hurt me. It felt a bit warm and it was interesting to see the purple laser gliding on my skin. Because the treatment on Level 1 takes only a total of 2 minutes I had no problem doing this every night.
Afterwards I also used the Tria Age Defying Skincare Finishing Serum which comforted my skin lovely. It is very light weight and lotion like.
I did not notice any changes during my first week of using the Tria Age Defying Laser. I think the first week is more for getting used to the device and how it is gonna work. It prepares you to use it right once you go up with the Levels.
On Week 2 I went up to Level 2. Now on Level 2 the Laser gets more hot and the treatment took a total of 4 minutes every night. I needed a couple of days to adjust to the heat. On certain areas it did hurt me more then on others. I found it hurt me specially under my eyes. I always needed some time to adjust to the heat but after around 2 weeks I was OK with the hot sensation of the Laser.
It really helps to use the Cleanser and the Serum because they have a cooling effect on your skin.
A little tip: if it hurts too much on certain areas of your face just stay for a little bit longer on a lower level on the areas you think it is too much to take. You will adjust to the hot feeling over time. It will become less and less noticeable.
During the weeks 2-4 I had sometimes reddening and even soft bruising, especially on my crows feet. The reddening and bruising always diminished after 1-2 days. But every time the bruising diminished I could see already that it improved my crows feet!
It will look and feel similar to a mild sunburn. But what actually happens is beneath the skin´s surface: collagen and elastin production will be stimulated and once the redness has healed, you will reveal better skin under it! Early on I was impressed that this actually worked!
I had a slight problem under my right eye because I have a mole there and it was a little bit hard to use the laser there without going over the mole (you are not supposed to laser moles!).
Anyway: on week 4 I had to switch to Level 3 and I will tell you: it did hurt again more! It got pretty hot and the total treatment time of 10 minutes every night wore a little on me. It felt like 30 minutes and at certain areas it really felt uncomfortable (for me it felt always uncomfortable under my eyes- I guess because the skin is thinner there). So what I did again was: I kept it under my eyes a little longer on Level 2 but for the rest of my face I stayed on Level 3.
Again: sometimes I would get reddening and bruising on my crows feet- and voilá: always when this happened and the skin healed my crows feet looked again a bit better! The healing revealed better and newer skin under it.
Another thing that I noticed is that my super oily forehead somehow got more balanced through the laser treatments. It is not that slippy and oily anymore!
Overall I can recommend this laser if you want to improve your crows feet! Everybody feels pain different- if you are super super sensitive this might be too much to take. If you are pretty good with it though this can be a fantastic solution for you. This is not cheap- but countless visits at your dermatologist cost even more!
I have also a YouTube video for you with a little Demo if you like to see it.
Have a great day,
