Food for (better!) thought? Rosemary

If you're reading this, then the title wasn't enough to make you stuff down a rosemary and garlic foccacia for instant brain power. And it shouldn't be.

First, this is about rosemary essential oil, which has been touted for centuries (or longer) for its healing properties.

But this new study comes from the labratory. It shows that blood levels of a rosemary oil component (called 1,8-cineole) correlate with better brain performance - both speed and accuracy. (No change to attention or alertness.)

But perhaps more interesting is that there was a NEGATIVE correlation between contentment and 1,8-cineole levels.
