Something Something has a very moving post about hiding mental illness; how easy it is sometimes to fool the people around you into believing that all is fine when all is definitely not. The post is a call to speak up, a story about what happens when you finally do. It isn't all hugs and unicorns, but Something Something gives a panoramic view of the good and the bad, both of which are reasons to not keep mental illness to yourself.
On rainy days, my sister and I would play hide and go seek. I was really good at finding obscure places and squeezing into them.
As I grew older, I got good at hiding other things like booze from my parents and my first tattoo.
And then there was that one thing that I masterfully hid behind a beautiful ordinary smile.
