Addiction doesn't happen overnight, it happens in time. But one day you wake up and you are unable to function and this is when you realize it's time to go to rehab. However, there are many more signs which tell you to do something about your condition.

  • You calculate your day based on drinking

When the urge to have a drink is able to modify your daily schedule, you have an addiction. Most people skip this sign, as they believe this is normal. If you make your schedule according to when and how much you can drink, you need to go to rehab.

  • You house is dirty

A dirty house is not always a sign of addiction, but it might be, if you prefer to have a glass of wine instead of swiping the floors. When you are addicted you postpone all the chores, so your house quickly changes from a normal house to a sort of dump.

  • You've turned from chic to messy

Addicts give up on themselves for the drug. They turn from regular, clean persons into dirty creatures, whose only interest is finding the next dose. Being drunk or hang over all the time prevents the individual from washing themselves, so they eventually start to look like hobos. When you look into the mirror and see a pile or dirty clothes and tangled hair, you definitely have a problem with addiction.

  • Your friends give up on you

This is one of the most painful signs of addiction. When your friends and family members start to avoid you or simply give up on you, it's time to start looking for a rehab center. The more addicted you become, the more people avoid you. They can't trust you anymore and they can't rely on you for anything, because you are always high. Some of your loved ones will try to wake you up, but they won't try it forever – there will be a moment when they will also give up on you, unless you do something.

  • Your days are the same

An addict's life is all about the drug, so each day is the same. In fact, most addicts have no idea what time it is. Your life suddenly becomes a chain of getting high, pass out somewhere and then waking up to do the same thing all over again. There is no night, no day, only your drug.

  • You do strange things

When your loves ones start saying they don't recognize you anymore, they are right. Addiction leads to unpredictable, uncharacteristic behavior. If you were once an avid reader or a talented artist, you may find yourself trying to smuggle couple of items from the local store. Doing things which you would have never done in the past is one of the signs your addiction is taking over your mind and body.

When you know you have a problem, but you can't stop doing all the wrong things, you need help from professionals. Rehab centers can offer you the support you need to overcome your addiction and go through the ordeal of withdrawal. It's painful and it's a long process, but it's worth it.
