Today's big news:
Registration is officially open for my 21 Day Summer Prep Course!
to check it out)
I've been meaning to get this up and running for awhile, but all the moving and shaking around here lately has set me back a bit. No matter - the course runs from May 8 to May 28, so that's a good amount of time to still get us ready for swimsuit season, methinks! :)
Last December I taught a 3 week online course about having a healthy, holistic holiday, and while it was wonderful and a lot of fun, it wasn't perfect. There were some things I wanted to improve upon, like these:
- Daily emails were inconvenient, as everyone doesn't get to the computer at the same time. What was early for me was late for some of the course attendees, and vice-versa. Blah. Also, there were recipes given in the emails that would have been easier to read in hard copy. To remedy this, May's course will come with a little booklet in the mail, containing shopping lists, recipes, and places to keep a log of how your progress is and goals/affirmations for the course (and beyond.) A good fix!
- The workouts used body weight, which is better than needing a lot of equipment, but it was also difficult sometimes for the attendees of different skill levels to find their sweet spot. To remedy this one, the course will come along with exercise bands of 3 different difficulties in the mail. I'll also be showing how to further personalize these, so you get a ridiculously wide range of resistance, to follow you up as you become stronger and more toned. This can be continued throughout the summer, just getting you in better and better condition during the entire season.
- Another thing about the workouts - they were 15-20 minutes. This time, I've whittled my perfect workout down to 12 minutes (which is not the same as last winter's, as Spring and Summer call for more toning and strength, rather than the metabolism boost that came with last winter's routine.) While I've been developing this, there have been many a morning where I've laid in bed or sat in the kitchen, trying to talk myself out of working out. The fact that it only takes 12 minutes has beat my self-saboteur consistently. Not bad.
- Live community! My courses always come along with a forum, but there will be a weekly live chat with this one that will serve as a place to talk about what's going on and ask some unique questions. I'm really looking forward to this - I love real-time conversations, and this is the perfect way to get one going, especially because I'm not in the same time zone as many of my attendees!
So is it obvious that I'm really excited about this? Cause I am.
I saw on Oprah within the past week that she had an episode on vegan choices - sadly, many of these meals used meat substitutes. A fact that slips through the cracks is that most meat subs DON'T taste like meat - and that this is not the thing to go for. The truth is, once your energy and mood are soaring, your body feels amazing, and it realizes that you are getting all the nutrients you need, your cravings for meat take a nose dive. Also, in a culture where people prepare meat as a main course and only have veggies as an afterthought, most of us really don't know how to make truly yummy vegetarian or vegan meals, just as they are - no meat substitutes needed. That's what the course is about - yes, you can add meat, but if you're mindful as you eat the meals that you'll be having, you'll notice that you are super satisfied afterward. No meat needed. (Not that you can't add it, but if you're after weight loss, anti-aging, and/or more energy, taking a meat hiatus is an awesome experiment to try - you may be surprised.)
In case you're interested, the course info and registration page is here. It runs from May 8 - May 28, and registration closes May 2. I'm capping the amount of attendees to 30 (I want to be able to give a good amount of individual attention) so get your spot earlier rather than later, if you want to join in!
