Friends and drinks always go nicely together! It’s been about eight months that a small group of girls get together to catch up, eat good food, and of course, enjoy a thirsty Thursday together. This week we went to a wine bar called Wine Works For Everyone, that included exotic wine selections and delicious food pairings. My favorite wine selection was The Other by Peirano Estate Vineyards.
Winemaker Notes: Once we have received the fruit at the winery, we keep each varietal separate through the entire fermentation and aging process, so each grape can fully express its true character. We then make several blends and sample each one until we have found one that is greater than the sum of its parts. The 2011 blend consists of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Syrah. We found this blend to be the best expression of our little corner of the Lodi Appellation.

Varietal: Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah
Location: Lodi, California
My Tasting Notes:
Our waitress poured a tasting of this wine, which had a vibrant ruby color and aromas of cedar and berries immediately aired out of the wine glass. A very uniquely complex wine that build upon its layers. It starts with a bold punch with hints of dry oak and finishes with a light berry sweetness. The wine threw me off with because you initial sip is dry and complex but finishes with this berry sweetness. The finish is sweeter than I would like in a wine, but it just works here. This wine is extraordinarily unique with its dry and sweet mixture. This is a wine that you cannot miss.

Wine Bars 'Knows'
Wine bars can be a little intimidating on two fronts; one, not knowing what to order, and two, price. Wine bars are typically on the pricier side, which is why it's a good place to try with friends that you can share an entree or appetizers with. Here is something to keep in mind:
1. Don’t be afraid to ask your server for recommendations, that’s what they are there for
2. Don’t go on an empty stomach, portions are small and pricey
3. Do try something you wouldn’t try, for example if you like reds try a white and vice versa
4. Try tasters! Its just like beer tasting (just more of a hit on the wallet), but you can find something you’ve never tried before.
5. Enjoy with friends!
