Plated: A Review

I'm torn here. I want to do a good review. There is so much I love about Plated. But then again, there is so much I don't love. I thought maybe I would make a list of both, and let you decide if it is right for you.

Pros:

  • Delivery to your doorstep
  • Easy to follow recipes
  • Just about everything is included
  • Everything is fresh
  • We got to try new dishes, with ingredients never used before
  • perfectly proportioned ingredients
  • Delicious
  • Reasonably priced at 11 dollars per plate delivered

Cons:

  • Excessive, but necessary packaging. Environmentally unfriendly mixture of foils and gels and cardboard and plastic
  • Each individual item is packaged seperatly, in plastic bags and bottles
  • Timing is off for us.

Plated delivers to Milwaukee on Tuesday. Everything arrives in a refridgerated cardboard box lined with foil with the meat packed between freezer gel bags . But you have to be home when the box arrives during the summer. Both orders I recieved, the meat was mostly thawed. The gel packs were cold but not frozen.  I guess they are assuming you are going to use the ingredients on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Which would be fine, if we weren't traveling so much.

The meals I made were delicious. Last night we had chicken picatta with penne and snow peas. I would make this recipe again with my own pantry items and skip the white vinegar. The lemon juice is plenty of picante.

And now for the photos!

 The bag.

#plated sent everything but oil oil, flour salt and pepper

 What's inside the bag

Yes, they sent the chicken too #plated

They sent the chicken and the snowpeas but not the cute cow tea kettle.

And the finished plate #plated

 The finished plate.

So, there you have it. I do think I will order again in the dead of winter, when I run out of ideas for dinner.

Did you try your @plated yet?
