A Tribute to Tonight's Super Moon

Tonight the moon is at its closest point to Earth -- and also rises full, a coincidence that makes it the largest-looking moon since March of 1983 and gives it the title of super moon. It's a catchy phrase, though I personally prefer the term perigee-syzygy.

Super Full Moon

There are some think a super moon causes or signals disaster (they connect tonight's moon to the Japanese earthquake, and have coined the unfortunate term "Moonageddon" for the lunar lunacy they expect to go down tonight). There's been so much speculation that NASA released a video explaining what a super moon is and isn't:

Of course, I couldn't let today's Month of Breakfast post go by without a tribute recipe to this astronomical event:

The Supermoon Breakfast Sandwich

It's got an extra-enormous full moon of a poached egg, sitting on some green cheese (goat cheese and herbs), and a tribute to my favorite punning breakfast of all time, Moons Over My Hammy.

½ English muffin
1 tablespoon goat cheese
1 teaspoon mixed herbs (basil, chives, tarragon, etc.)
1 XXXXL egg
1 ounce ham

Toast the muffin. Mix the herbs with the cheese and spread on muffin. Add ham. Poach the egg to desired doneness and place atop ham. If anything goes wrong in the cooking, you know what to blame.

I can't even see the supermoon tonight because it's raining in San Francisco. Can you see it? Is it a bad moon rising?
