NYC isn't always the friendliest place to visit, but you have to admit they have some tasty food. It's definitely a better scene than the south with plenty of options and more authentic cuisine.
My friend and collaborator Michael (yes, a man!) told me about a new restaurant that opened in NYC called Kiin Thai Eatery, which means to eat in Thai. He dined there recently and raved about the food so I had to check it out, and it was amazing!
The owners of the popular Isan style restaurant Somtum Der opened Kiin Thai Eatery to offer a different style of Thai cuisine to New Yorkers. Somtum Der focuses on bold flavors and heavy spices, where Kiin Thai Eatery is more balanced.
The Isan food and Lanna are very different. Lanna is more fragrant in herbaceous since the they use ingredients that found in the mountains of Thailand. But I do wish the flavors were more settled for you, instead of having to season your own food. The pad thai had to be seasoned to the customer's preference, but that's fine. I just would like a strong point of view from the chef, however, I would highly recommend this place.
You should definitely visit the restaurant if you're in NYC. It's perfect for a ladies night, anniversary, or just for a casual lunch spot. It's located at 36 East 8th Street.
