Who doesn't love tuna fish sandwiches? Tuna fish sandwiches are one of the only lunch items my entire family likes. Usually, everyone is on their own for lunch, but when I make tuna fish sandwiches everyone has one.
A few years ago I started playing around with different ingredients in tuna fish and came up with these Kicked Up Tuna Fish Sandwiches!
The first ingredient you need is 2 -3 garlic cloves.
Lightly brown the whole cloves in about 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
Keep a close eye on them, they will burn easily.
1 12oz can Albacore Tuna Fish (Water Packed)
4 Baby Dill Pickles Finely Diced
1/4 -1/2 Red Onion Finely Diced
2 Garlic Cloves Lightly Browned (above) and finely chopped
1 Tbsp Sunflower Kernels (trust me they make this dish!)
2 Celery Stalks Finely Diced
4 Tbsp Lite Mayo (or regular, its your waistline)
2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
1/2 tsp Onion Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Bread of your choice
I made a large batch of this delicious tuna fish filling, so you can always cut the recipe in half if needed.
Throw everyone in the pool.
Mix together. You may want to add more mayo depending on how "wet" you like your tuna fish.
Scoop onto your bread of choice. I absolutely love whole wheat pita bread, and had some on hand so that's what I used today. I also love Dave's killer bread for tuna fish sandwiches as well.
Pair with a refreshing drink of your choice. I'm slightly obsessed with Iced Soy Chai Lattes lately, so that was my drink of choice today.
Do you do anything special to your tuna fish sandwiches?
I hope you all try these, the sunflower seeds make these Kicked Up Tuna Fish Sandwiches so special!
