French doughnuts

Me writing a foodie post, ruh roh and sheesh.

The following recipe comes not from me, but from my aunt via my mother. Caveat: This is not a health food post.

Since you don't want me to blather on about batter, the recipe:

French Doughnuts

1 1/2 cups of flour

1/3 cup butter

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

2 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Heat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add egg, mix well. In another bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.  Add the dry ingredients and mix well with the butter and sugar. Pour into well greased muffin tins. Bake 20-25 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.

Topping

1/3 cup butter

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Melt butter.

Mix together sugar and cinnamon.

When doughnuts are cool, brush the tops with the melted butter, roll tops of muffins in sugar and cinnamon.

Go for a long brisk walk after consuming.
