In order to accomplish my goal of 182 new recipes in 366 days, I need to actually lay my hands on at least, well... 182 new recipes.
I have no preference on where these recipes come from. I imagine I'll find some online, some by friends' recommendations, and others from cookbooks.
After spending some time browsing Amazon last week, I have made the following selections to get me started:
- Artisanal Gluten-Free Cooking, by Kelli and Peter Bronski
- The Gluten-Free Gourmet Cooks comfort Foods, by Bette Hagman
- Gluten-Free Italian, by Jacqueline Mallorca
I'll always credit the source for each dish I make, so you'll know where to find the recipe in it's entirety.
I have just over a week to go before the first meal. While I expect that over the course of the year I'll have plenty of failed attempts that leave me tearfully eating a bowl of Rice Chex for dinner, I'd prefer that the very first meal wasn't among them. The first meal should mirror what everything about New Years should exude; a feeling of optimism for the year to come.
I've already perused the Italian cookbook, and found some very temping possibilities. Italian food is close to my heart, as many of my friends are in Italy, predominately in Tuscany, and I love the food we eat when I go to visit; the soups, the chicken liver crostini, the classic tuscan steak, the soft cheeses with honey drizzled atop. That being said, I don't want to make a final decision before looking through the other two books, so I'm trying to keep an open mind.
