Do you have an OBSESSION with avocado like I do? Ever since I was pregnant it has definitely been one of my favorite foods! Not only because it's delicious but because of the numerous health benefits it offers. Avocados are rich in vitamin A, B, C, E and K, copper, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, folate and iron. They also contain certain phytochemicals such as lutein, beta-sitosterol and glutathione which are proven to protect the body against certain diseases. Glutathione in particular SLOWS the aging process! Also, did you know there was a study done where people ate avocado for 7 days and their cholesterol dropped a whopping 17 percent! Isn't that incredible?
Are you like me? Do you cut your avocado in half and then take the pit out and scoop out the avocado? Well, it turns out there's a much easier way to do it and it only takes an extra 5 seconds! When I saw this the other day, I knew I had to write about it because it's such a great tip.
1. Start off by cutting the avocado lengthwise, twisting around the pit. This is probably how you've always cut your avocados, right?
2. Now turn the avocado 90 degrees and cut again, cutting all the way around the pit.
3. Twist the avocado and the pieces should be really easy to take apart. The pit will stay on one of the pieces so just pop it off with your hands! No need to use a knife, it should be easy.
4. Finally, you can peel or cut the flesh of the avocado from the skin!
