5 ingredient breakfast bars



There are some stories that are hard to read and move on from….stories that not only highlight a good deed, but inspire the recipients to pay it forward…these stories are hard not to share…
I came across this story last night, of an anonymous millionaire who was hiding envelopes stuffed with upto $100 around San Francisco; he tweets clues to the whereabouts of said envelopes from his twitter handle @HiddenCash. While the amounts he hides are far from life changing, the reasoning behind his generosity was what touched me – in his words:

“At the very least, perhaps it will just encourage more random acts of kindness…One example is you go to the toll booth and pay for the five cars behind you. Well, let’s say the person behind you has more money and makes more money than you, you’re still doing a good thing because maybe they’re having a bad day or a bad week and you’ve lifted their spirits and brought a smile to their face…”

Finding out that the car in front of me paid my toll never ceases to put a smile on my face – and it’s so natural to just toss the 50 cents I had fished around for, into the cash collection bin for the car behind, in return!

Similarly, these bars put a huge smile on my face, maybe they would do the same for you?  Maybe they might even inspire you to share them?  as for me – I will share their recipe as, the bars – oops, they are in ma belly!

Filled with chocolate and oats, and no refined sugar or butter, these 5 ingredient bars are not only a cinch to make, but are healthy too!

I have been having so much fun experimenting with the huge supply of chocolate the lovely folks at Chocoley hooked me up with {remember theChocolate Soup:) } – these bars -made with Chocoley Dark Chocolate- and some white chocolate raspberry cookies {recipe coming next week) are the result of such experimentation!





For a chocolate addict lover like me – this has been pure bliss!

5-Ingredient Breakfast Bars

  1. 2 cups ground oats (I used the "grind" setting on my blender)
  2. 1/4 cup honey
  3. 1/4 cup coconut oil melted
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1/2 cup melted Chocoley dark chocolate
  6. Optional - chia seeds to sprinkle on top
  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Mix all 5 ingredients thoroughly and press into a parchment lined loaf pan; sprinkle with chia seeds if desired
  3. Bake for 20 minutes and let cool before cutting into bars
  4. Devour!
