Whether you’re throwing an Academy Awards viewing party, or you’re planning on small get together, you know everyone loves to eat. Yes, you can get ready made stuff, but the recipes below are pretty easy to make. They’re also low calorie and healthy too.
The next time you have people over, step away from the high caloric, processed stuff and whip up something like a Feta Pizza or low calorie crab dip instead.
Pascha Chocolate Smoked Sea Salt Dessert Balls
10 large medjool dates, pits removed and finely chopped to create a sticky paste
1/4 c pumpkin seeds
1/2 c TFM Old–Fashioned Oats
2 tbsp TFM Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp TFM Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp Maldon Smoked Sea Salt, plus extra for sprinkling
2 oz PASCHA Organic Dark Chocolate 85% Cacao, cut into small chunks
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Using hands, work the mixture until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Mixture should hold together and be slightly sticky. Add a few additional chopped dates if your mixture does not hold together. Using a melon baller or your hands, roll into medium sized balls and place on parchment paper. Drizzle each with Dairy Free Dark Chocolate melted and top with a sprinkle of Maldon Smoked Sea Salt. Serve immediately or chilled until later use.

Low Calorie Hot Crab Dip

8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufchatel), room temperature
1/4 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon crab boil spices, (recommended: OldBay)
1 garlic clove, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
12 ounces fresh crab meat, picked over for bits of shell and patted dry
2 scallions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 to 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Whole-wheat crackers for serving, optional
Stir together the cream cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, crab boil spice, and garlic in a medium saucepan until smooth; season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Heat the cream cheese mixture over medium-low heat until warm, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes. Fold in the crab, scallions, parsley and lemon juice and warm until heated through, about 1 minute more. Serve immediately.

Watermelon and Feta Salad
¼ cup olive oil
2 Tbsp. Fresh Mint Leaves Finely Sliced
4 tsp. Champagne vinegar
½ small chilled watermelon, preferably seedless (about 6 pounds)
¾ cup each red and green seedless grapes, halved
1 cup crumbled Feta Cheese (about 5 oz.)
¼ cup pine nuts, toasted
Mint Sprig, for garnish
In a large bowl whisk together oil, mint leaves and vinegar; set aside. With a sharp knife cut around edge of watermelon to within ½ inch of rind. Then cut a deep cross through the flesh, leaving rind intact and reserving for later use. Scoop out each quadrant of watermelon and cut flesh into ¾” cubes. Place in bowl with vinaigrette, watermelon flesh, grapes and feta; toss gently. Use watermelon shell for serving and if necessary, slice off a sliver of its bottom so it sits level. Spoon watermelon mixture into shell and sprinkle with nuts. Garnish with mint sprig. Serve immediately.
With Karoun’s Mediterranean Basket Feta, with Sun Dried Tomatoes & Thyme
Mediterranean flat bread (2 medium size)
1 jar julienned sun dried tomatoes
1 cup Karoun Mozzerella cheese, shredded
½ cup crumbled Karoun Mediterranean Basket Feta with Sun Dried Tomatoes & Thyme
Fresh Thyme leaves to taste
4 medium plum tomatoes, halved
2 T. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
Sprinkle julienned sundried tomatoes and shredded Karoun mozzarella over Mediterranean flat bread. Top with tomato halves and Karoun’s Mediterranean Basket Feta.Combine olive oil and garlic. Brush tomato slices with oil mixture. Bake for about 10 minutes until cheese melts and pizza is heated through. Let stand 5 minutes. Top with fresh thyme and serve.
