Living in the city of Sacramento, Garrett McCord works as a food writer, recipe developer, and pastry chef. His blog Vanilla Garlic is regularly updated with essays about life and the foods often enjoyed after a meal. His writing has appeared in numerous publications and websites such as Saveur.com and Cheese Connoisseur, and he regularly contributes to the Sacramento News and Review and Edible Sacramento. He is currently finishing up a Master's thesis at California State University, Sacramento, analyzing the Slow Food movement.
Garrett's favorite cocoalicious treat is chocolate-espresso shortbread.
He says on his blog: "The right amount of chocolate and espresso give these a nice bang. Crushed cocoa nibs add a little more crunch to the sandy texture of the shortbread and make a simple, but intense cookie."
