A few weeks ago, we lost a comedy legend when Phyllis Diller passed away at the age of 95. According to family members, she died with a smile on her face, and why not? She had a long, trailblazing life doing what has to be one of the most noble and difficult professions; making millions of people laugh. This week on the opinion poll, we want to know who activates your funny bone.
Do you like the old school favorites like Don Rickles or Bob Hope? The hot new comics like Louis C.K.? Or maybe your tastes are more mainstream: Ellen Degeneres and Jerry Seinfeld both have enormous widespread appeal and the ability to reduce their audience to howling puddles of laughter. That's called "killing" in stand up comic parlance. That is apparently one of the biggest highs a stage performer can ever achieve.
Comedy Central has put Richard Pryor in their #1 slot for Top 100 Stand Up Comics of all time. What about you? Who makes your list? Don't forget to write your favorites in if we've left them off the poll. And if you have a great story about seeing any of these legends live, please tell us about it!
