Primetime Emmy's 2012 (Live Blog)

So tonight I decided to live blog the 2012 Emmy Awards hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC. If you plan on watching later and don't want to be spoiled then don't read this just yet but if you are like me and the temptation of who won, what was said etc.. then please sit back and relax :)

Jimmy starting out the show with a variety of different actresses "backstage" and him having recieved to much botox so he refuses to host (cue the reality "hosts" that hosted that bomb of a show a few years back). The ladies punched the botox out of him (hilarious clip honestly especially with a naked Lena Dunham) but Jimmy feels confidant that he will open the show but he has no pants until Ellen offers hers. Pretty funny opening video (usually they aren't that great).

First Honey Boo Boo joke of the night in the first 5 minutes and also a mention of Downton Abby. Gotta say Jimmy did a great job opening the show, had a lot of laughs and he kept it going.

First genre of the night is comedy (one of my favorite genre's)

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series: Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family. Sweet speech from Eric, saying that he never thought he would be on TV as a gay man but appreciates the hairy chested pictures you send me. Lovely speech.

Best Writing in a Comedy: Louis C.K.  Thanked his family, seemed a little surprised that he had won but the man is hilarious! Not surprised at all that he took home the Emmy.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Julie Bowen, Modern Family Funny speech from a funny lady (nipple covers mentioned a few times).

Best Comedy Direction: Steve Levitan, Modern Family  Wants to thank himself for hiring him as a director when no one else would. Of course thanking the cast, crew, writers etc... Says that a guest director could be a complete idiot and direct Modern Family.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series: Jon Cryer, Two and a Half Men. Didn't think that he would win, thanks his family.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: Julia Louis-Dryfus, Veep. Best speech so far, funny when it started out as Amy Pohler's speech.

Outstanding Reality Series, Competition: The Amazing Race

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad

Outstanding Writing, Drama: Homeland

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Maggie Smith, Downton Abby

Outstanding Direction in a Drama Series: Boardwalk Empire

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Damian Lewis, Homeland Loved the speech, he doesn't believe in judging art but decides to show up just in case.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Claire Danes, Homeland Looks beautiful on stage thanking everyone (your usual suspects).

Best Writing Variety Series: Louis C.K.

Best Directing, Variety Series: Glenn Weiss, 65th Annual Tony Awards

Best Variety Series: The Daily Show

Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-Series or Movie: Jessica Lange, American Horror Story

Best Supporting Actor in a Mini-Series or Movie: Tom Berenger, Hatfields and McCoy

Best Writing Miniseries or Movie: Game Change

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Julianne Moore, Game Change  Feels validated because Sarah Palin gave her a big thumbs down. Go Julianne!!!

Best Directing for Miniseries or Movie: Game Change

Outstanding Actor in Miniseries or Movie: Kevin Costener, Hatfields and McCoy. Never thought that this movie would ever happen, had to go out of the coutry to film this very american movie.

Outstanding Miniseries or Movie: Game Change

Outstanding Drama Series: Homeland

Outstanding Comedy Series: Modern Family

All in all not a bad show, it was rather predictable when it come to the catagories that Modern Family was in. Jimmy Kimmel did a pretty good job keeping the show going smoothly.
