As the mother of an 11-year old boy, I already appreciate a good pair of headphones. The headsets and headphones -- of various shapes and sizes -- that we have in the house have saved me from listening to endless Minecraft parody videos, more than a few anime TV shows downloaded from Netflix and any number of Nintendo DS sound effects.
Except that I think the ante is about to be upped in our gaming world. My son has started playing his Wii games again, and just before Christmas asked if we could get an XBox. Apparently there is a desirable game that is only available on Xbox.
I said no to the Xbox -- at least for now, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the request will be back, if not this April for his birthday, next Christmas for sure. And the games are going to get louder.
Which is why holiday time next year, I'll be asking Santa for a Turtle Beach professional quality gaming headset. Not exactly for me of course, but definitely for my hearing (and sanity.) From what I understand, the headphones actually make the gaming experience more intense and enjoyable so Douglas won't mind putting them on, as he often does the little headsets we have now.
You however don't have to wait until next year for your sanity-saving Turtle Beach headphones. Turtle Beach is giving away a pair of headphones for the gaming system of your choice to one lucky BlogHer reader. Details here at www.turtlebeach.com/perfectgift1
So, if your child (or partner) got an explosive ear-drum shattering game for the holidays, this is your chance to save your sanity AND give him or her the perfect post holiday gift.
Here's what the folks at Turtle Beach have to say about their headsets:
Every year the question surfaces - "what do I get for the gamer in my life?" Well, the answer may be just under your nose (or over your ears in this case) - professional quality gaming headsets for the masses. Most games today are designed to create immersive experiences and utilize audio for sense of direction, for sound effects that create realism, dramatic musical scores and of course for multi-player online play, such as offered on Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. The bottom line is that audio is essential to a cohesive sensory gameplay experience.
This is where Turtle Beach can help gift givers deliver the best possible present these holidays. More than an accessory, Turtle Beach offers an experience that will enhance gameplay and even offer a competitive advantage to core and casual gamers alike.
I'll have to take their word for it, because gaming is NOT my thing, but if it is yours, or if a special someone in your life is a hard (or soft) core gamer, take the few minutes to enter the sweepstakes for the free headset.
It just might make for a most peaceful New Year!
Turtle Beach was kind enough to send us the Earforce PX3 headset to try. It came after I finished this post, but here’s a pic of Doug modeling them for you.
