Nevada Caucus: Romney Wins; Paul's "Honest Rape" Comments

Mitt Romney won the Nevada Republican caucuses yesterday with 47.6 percent of the vote and a "a broad coalition of voters that included groups that he has struggled with in previous contests," according to the New York Times, which has him "solidifying his status as the front-runner" in the race to become the GOP presidential candidate this November.

Gingrich came in second, with Ron Paul third and Rick Santorum fourth. On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Colorado and Minnesota hold Republican caucuses while Missouri Republicans hold a presidential primary. Romney currently has a projected 97 delegates, and stands to gain up to 128 more this coming week. The threshold for nomination is 1,144 delegates, so the race is far from over.

In a CNN interview on the eve of the caucuses Friday night, Piers Morgan asked Ron Paul whether he would force one of his daughters or granddaughters to bear the child if she were impregnated by a rapist. His answer: "If it's an honest rape, that individual should go immediately to the emergency room, and I would give them a shot of estrogen."
