It came out today that Justin Bieber tested positive for marijuana and Xanax.
I am not surprised.
Justin started out as a kid who just wanted to sing. Then something happened that changed his life. He got the chance.
Since he was 12 years old, people have made fun of his music, his face, his hair -- and not in nice ways either.
Even with his recent arrest the Internet thought it important to compare his mug shot to Miley Cyrus.

As a parent, my heart breaks for him. Yes, he has more money than Scrooge McDuck. Yes, he has fancy cars and mansions. But he also has a world full of people with very hateful things to say about him every time he turns around.
I'm not surprised that at 19, Bieber is acting a bit unstable. I'm not surprised he is taking medication for anxiety, prescribed or not. I'm not surprised he is smoking pot.
I'm pretty sure that I would be in much worse shape if I had to endure the ridicule and criticism he has dealt with.
It is possible to not enjoy him, or his music. Quietly. And without malice.
I teach my children that if you can't say something nice, you don't say anything. It's too bad more kids don't learn this lesson. Or more adults for that matter.
