The Media Makes Me Sick - Looking at you E!

For those of you who don't indulge in celebrity news, allow me to bring you up to date on a little something currently brewing. Simon Cowell, former host of American Idol, recently found out that he is going to be a father. The mother, Lauren Silverman, is currently married to Cowell's friend.

Needless to say, the media jumped all over this delicious scandal. The next logical step was to find out what kind of shady background they could dig up on Silverman, cause, you know, she obviously did this all on her own. AHEM.

Anyway, tonight I heard on E! that the latest story is that she had an "affair" with her teacher when she was 16.

Story here:

The article discusses a 2 month long sexual romance which included "trysts" in classrooms. Silverman apparently had to switch schools when this was found out. Of course all the upper classmen knew about it all along [allegedly].

I don't care what Silverman is doing now or who she is and isn't sleeping with. They are making 16 year old Silverman out to be a temptress, a seductress.

A person in authority had sex with her.

Were charges filed? Doesn't sound like it.

Did he continue teaching? Probably.

Was she ridiculed and made to feel shame for what happened to her? She is now!

Where were the responsible adults in her life? Instead of making the teacher leave, she had to switch schools?

I am very disappointed by the media right now. I shouldn't be. It implies that I had faith in them at all. But could they have at least used this story to shed light on a serious issue.

I'm looking at you E!

Stay Strong,
