There is too much depressing, heartbreaking, Mammon-serving, evil shit happening on the planet (as usual) and I don’t want to cope with it today. Rather, I wanna blog about something interesting. Well, at least interesting to me.
It just so happens that archeologists -- hopefully wearing fedoras and bullwhips but I’ve not seen one doing that yet so it is a slim chance to be honest – have dug up a game that is more than 5000 years old . It was from the Bronze Age, people! That is hella old skool.
The game pieces are awesome with extra awesome sauce. Not believe me? Go here to see a picture of the figures used in the game:
Told you it was cool! Apparently the pieces “depict pigs, dogs and pyramids, others feature round and bullet shapes … as well as three circular tokens made of white shell and topped with a black round stone”.
No one has an inkling of how to play it. Archeologists are studying the matter with great serious study I am sure. Already they are speculating that taking into account, “distribution, shape and numbers of the stone pieces, it appears that the game is based on the number 4".
If they figure out how to play this and start producing it for modern consumers, I know what I want Santa Clause to bring me some Christmas in the near future. It may or may not be as much fun as crokinole, but I am willing to find out.
