For the second straight race, the Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another beat Bodemeister in the final moments, winning the Preakness Stakes on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Creative Cause finished third making it an all-California trifecta. The winner paid $8.40 on a $2.00 bet.
I didn't see the the running of the Preakness but I did win a whole $5.00 in an informal (and totally legit) pool. The second leg of the Triple Crown was by all accounts, an exciting, some say epic, race. I'll Take Another ran down Bodemeister in the deep stretch, a dramatic finish that topped his win two weeks ago in the Derby.

"We're thinking Triple Crown, baby!" trainer Doug O'Neill said after I'll Have Another's victory.
Fans were ecstatic - blowing up Twitter timelines during and after the race. But the people happiest about the win are probably the ones who run the Belmont Stakes for their race is now more relevant than ever. If I'll Have Another wins Belmont, he'll be the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years. It was 1978 that Affirmed swept the Derby, Preakness and Belmont to became the 11th and most recent Triple Crown champion. Since then, 11 horses have won the first two legs only to come up short in the Belmont. The most recent try came in 2008, when Big Brown was pulled up around the turn for home and did not finish. The Belmont Stakes is June 9 at Belmont Park in New York.
So, in honor of I'll Have Another, Imma have another - and another! (no groans please, and use that line at your own risk)
