With Manning In, Is Tebow Out?

The Broncos got their Manning. And Denver is now Peyton’s Place.

Pending final contract negotiations, high profile QB Peyton Manning will join the Broncos with hopes of winning another Super Bowl.

Manning, the only four-time MVP in NFL history,  became football’s most sought-after free agent ever when the Indianapolis Colts released him March 7th. He will attempt to revive his pro career in Denver after being sidelined last season following a series of neck surgeries.

Manning was wooed to Denver by Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, who led the Broncos to two Super Bowl championships and now serves as their vice president of football operations.

The 36 year old Manning threw for 54,828 yards and 399 touchdowns in his 13 healthy seasons with the Colts. Colts owner Jim Irsay declared that his team was in rebuilding mode when he released the popular Manning, a move that kept the club from having to pay Manning a $28 million roster bonus but alienated a lot of fans.

In this high stakes game of musical chairs, when one player moves or is traded there is a domino effect. The Colt's move marked the end of an era for the team that drafted Manning No. 1 overall and the player who brought Indianapolis to the 2007 Super Bowl title and a second appearance in the NFL championship game three years later.

So what happens to football sensation Tim Tebow who led the Broncos to the playoffs last season?

Even when Tebow was winning, there were questions about whether he could be the franchise’s long-term quarterback. Tebow’s running ability were unquestioned, but he struggled with his passing accuracy, finishing the regular season with a completion rate of 46.5 percent.

It looks likeTebowmania may be over in Denver as it appears a trade for the Heisman-winning quarterback is imminent. As Leno quipped in his monologue after the news was reported, "we have no idea where Tebow will end up - just like his passes."

In the meantime, here’s hoping Manning delivers for his new team and proves why he’s a future Hall of Famer.
