Hooters: Lose Weight or Lose Job

Red Wings v Coyotes

Apparently, 135 pounds is too fat to wear orange bootie shorts...at least according to Hooters restaurant.

Cassandra Smith, 20, was told to lose weight or lose her job during her annual review at a Michigan Hooters restaurant.

But hold on, at least Hooters was thoughtful enough to offer her a one month gym membership. If she hasn't shaped up after 30 days, she'll have to ship out.

Out of the three uniform sizes offered by Hooters--small, extra-small, and extra-extra-small--Smith wears an extra-small.

According to Detroit Local 4 News, Hooters released the following statement today:

"We will not make any comment on a current employee except to say that no employee in Michigan has been counseled about their weight. However, we will say that our practice of upholding an image standard based on appearance, attitude and fitness for Hooters girls is both legal and fair. It is not unlike the standard used by the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders or the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes."

At 5 foot 8 inches and almost 135 pounds, Smith reports to be "completely comfortable with herself." (As she should.)

I say, "Go Cassie!"

What do you say?
